Hastings Has HEART
Our students and staff bring to life our core values of honesty, empathy, acceptance, respect and teamwork. Here are just a few highlights!
Move over Macy's day parade for our creative and imaginative Kindergarteners! They spent a lot of time making their balloons and then they got to parade them around the school, with all the other grade levels lining the halls to clap them and cheer them on!
Our first graders welcomed therapy dogs into their reading classrooms! Students were able to spend time reading to the therapy dogs as part of their daily reading workshop.
Hastings students receive character education lessons relating to their Hastings HEART.
"H" stands for Honesty. Students learn about what it means to be honest and how to practice this at home, school, and in the community.
"E" stands for Empathy. Students learn about what it means to be kind to everyone, and having the ability to understand and share the feelings of others.
"A" stands for Acceptance. Students learn about compassion and seeing all human beings as being as unique and special as they are.
"R" stands for Responsibility. Students learn what it means to be responsible - making good choices and taking accountability for their actions. "T" stands for Teamwork. Students learn how they can come together to solve a problem or achieve a shared goal. This helps promote skills like listening, cooperation and leadership. |
Every month, grade levels each have an incredible opportunity to come together and make music with Mr. Kinney! Students sing, dance, and connect story to song.
